锆英石经水选、电选、磁选等选矿工艺分选后而得到。硅酸锆化学性质非常稳定，熔点2550℃。因此在摩擦材料中应用可以取得非常理想的效果。主要特点是：
1.提高摩擦系数。
2.由于其抗热震动特性，不产生震动噪音。
3.应用为增磨剂时磨损较小
